This is an impressive and large nature reserve between Den Bosch and Waalwijk, not more than 26 kms from my home. I had never been there before. A Polish follower mentioned it to me. So in the autumn holidays, I decided to take a look.
Birches belong to my favourite trees. They're elegant, the bark is interesting and jumps to the eye, the foliage is sparse and has lovely colours. On a desktop this picture needs some scrolling.

On a visit to the Loonse en Drunense Duinen, I loved the trees that show that they've had to work hard in these sandy surroundings to stay alive.

Also at the Loonse en Drunense Duinen, it struck me that a large part of the pine wood 'had gone to meet its maker' (© Monty Python). I emphasised it a bit by combining both a sharp and a post-processed version of the same image, then reduced nearly every colour. Yes, it's tall.

Especially the birches were a sight for sore eyes. Those delicate colours ... Also a tall image, it's tack sharp and straight from the camera.

This one reserved a hillock for himself. Had to accept that the fellow to his right claimed some space, and hence his balance was slightly disturbed, but now, you can't get around him.

A carpet of asparagus plants is desperately trying to match the colours of the foliage in the background.
