Reflections

'To throw back light (or sound)', 'to think quietly and calmly', 'to give back or exhibit as an image, likeness'. Thank you, Merriam-Webster. I like the abstract power of reflections. Every image straight from the camera.

Harbours

Harbours or more rewarding than ports. The sailboats I came across in marinas are all in good nick and that stands for clean pictures. The water in ports is also murkier and often polluted with oil. It wouldn't be too difficult to fill an entire page with these reflections.

Delfshaven

One of the oldest parts of Rotterdam, the harbour of which has many century old vessels. Might be the reason for some oil in the water.

Close to De Meent, where old meets new.

Industry

The wall at the far end of the harbour is corrugated metal one belonging to a shipyard. The water turns the straight lines into a pattern. Straight out of camera.

Harbour

Sitting on the dock of the bay, yes, it does make your mind wander. This is Kampen's port, full of tall sailing-boats.

Beach

The rain and grey clouds have subsided, there's some blue to be detected in the sky. The shore is a great place to be. Selfie!

Lagoon

Lots of small fishing boats at San Gines Lagoon in Arrecife. The lagoon is surrounded by a boardwalk with lots of restaurants and terraces, 75% op which have gone bankrupt during the pandemic. A very sad sight.

Beach (2)

Waves trying to conquer the beach, clouds reflecting, bubbling and hissing sounds from foam that slowly start collapsing. Mesmerising sight.

Marina

From luxury yacht to dinghy, they contribite to a colourful and graphical display in the water in any marina. This picture is featured in the Reflections issue of AbstractAZZI.

Graphical display

The more I concentrate on the reflections of white sailboats, the larger the contrast is going to be. It is just a matter of waiting for the wind to pick up or lie down.

Ripples

After a while you start recognising what the wind does with the ripples in the water. Changing position for just a few metres can mean a very different image.
